A two day mould-making and casting masterclass led by Claire Baily

During this two day workshop you will have the opportunity to make a two piece silicone block mould, learn how to cast with Jesmonite and create your own unique bowl to take home.

What you will do:
Day 1
You will make a 2 part poured silicone mould from a pre-prepared plaster form.
You will then design and prepare your colour palette of choice.

Day 2
You will learn how to prepare, mix and cast a terrazzo Jesmonite bowl.
Finally you will sand and finish your bowl ready to take home.

Because the materials we are working with all need some time to set, there will be some natural breaks during the session.

Materials
We will primarily work with Silicone and Jesmonite.
Silicone is a versatile mould making material that is used to make highly detailed flexible moulds that can last for many casts.
Jesmonite is an acrylic modified gypsum composite, that is non toxic and contains no VOC’s.
We will also be using water based pigments and a microcrystalline wax for finishing.

The Results
By the end of the workshop you will have a unique Jesmonite bowl to take home alongside a silicone mould which can be used for many more casts in the future.
